Documentation

Give your damage photos a clearer story

A simple way to organize the photos you already have before a conversation about your property.

Start with a safe view

Only document areas that are safe to access. The National Flood Insurance Program recommends photos and videos as part of flood-damage documentation. Its guidance is specific to flood claims; it does not establish coverage for other losses.

Group the photos by room or area

For your conversation with RicardoPA, try grouping existing images by location: kitchen, living room, roof or exterior. A wider view provides context, while a close view can show the detail you want to discuss. Do not climb onto a roof to collect pictures.

Keep the originals and add separate notes

Keep your original files. In a separate note, describe where each group was taken and when you noticed the damage. Mark anything you are unsure about as unknown. Photos can support a conversation; they do not by themselves establish the cause or coverage of a loss.
